Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

2 tablespoons granulated sugar

1 tablespoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

1/2 cup whole milk

1 large egg

1 tablespoon vanilla extract

2 tablespoons ground cinnamon

1/4 cup brown sugar, packed

Oil for frying

Optional: Vanilla glaze (made from powdered sugar and milk for drizzling)

Instructions

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt until combined.

In a separate bowl, cream the softened butter until light and fluffy, then mix in the milk, egg, and vanilla extract until fully combined.

Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until a soft dough forms.

On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to about 1/2 inch thick.

In a small bowl, combine ground cinnamon and brown sugar. Sprinkle this cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly over the rolled-out dough.

Carefully roll the dough tightly into a log, then pinch the edges to seal.

Use a sharp knife to slice the log into 1-inch thick doughnut rounds. Using your fingers, make a hole in the middle of each piece to form the doughnut shape.

In a deep skillet or fryer, heat oil to 350°F (175°C). Fry the doughnuts until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes on each side. Remove and place on paper towels to absorb excess oil.

If desired, drizzle with a simple vanilla glaze made from mixing powdered sugar with a little milk until smooth.

Prep Time: 30 minutes | Total Time: 1 hour | Servings: 12 doughnuts

                      - Presentation Tips: Arrange the doughnuts on a tiered cake stand, dust lightly with powdered sugar, and serve with a side of extra cinnamon-sugar for dipping. Enjoy warm for the best flavor!
