For a great Cajun creamy salmon recipe, you need fresh seafood and vibrant veggies. I use two salmon fillets, each about six ounces. They should be firm and bright. For the shrimp, I choose eight ounces of large shrimp, peeled and deveined. Fresh shrimp adds texture and taste.

Ingredients

2 salmon fillets (6 oz each)

8 oz large shrimp, peeled and deveined

1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning

2 tablespoons olive oil

½ cup diced bell pepper (mixed colors)

½ cup diced onion

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup heavy cream

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

Salt and pepper to taste

2 green onions, finely sliced (for garnish)

Cooked rice or pasta (for serving)

Instructions

Prepare the Seafood: Season the salmon fillets and shrimp with Cajun seasoning, ensuring they are evenly coated. Set aside.

Sauté Vegetables: In a large skillet over medium heat, add olive oil. Once hot, add the diced bell pepper and onion. Sauté for about 5 minutes until they become tender. Add minced garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute, until fragrant.

Cook Salmon: Push the vegetables to the side of the skillet. Place the salmon fillets skin-side down in the pan. Cook for 4-5 minutes on each side until they are cooked through and have a nice sear. Remove the salmon from the skillet and set aside, keeping it warm.

Sauté Shrimp: In the same skillet, add the shrimp. Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until they turn pink and are opaque. Remove from heat and set aside with the salmon.

Make the Cream Sauce: In the same skillet, pour in the heavy cream and stir to combine with any remaining juices from the seafood and vegetables. Add smoked paprika, and season with salt and pepper to taste. Allow the sauce to simmer for 3-4 minutes until it thickens slightly.

Combine: Gently fold the shrimp back into the sauce. Place the salmon on top and let it heat through for 1-2 minutes.

Serve: Plate the cooked rice or pasta, then spoon the creamy Cajun sauce with shrimp and salmon over the top. Garnish with sliced green onions for a fresh finish.
