1 pound ground beef or turkey

1 onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

2 cups mixed vegetables (carrots, peas, corn)

1 teaspoon dried thyme

1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

Salt and pepper to taste

4 large russet potatoes, peeled and cubed

½ cup milk

4 tablespoons butter

1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

    Cook the Potatoes: Place the cubed potatoes in a large pot and cover with water. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer and cook for 15-20 minutes until tender. Drain and return to the pot.

      Mash the Potatoes: Add the milk and butter to the potatoes. Mash them until creamy and season with salt and pepper to taste. Set aside.

        Cook the Meat Mixture: In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef or turkey, onion, and garlic. Cook until the meat is browned and the onion is translucent, about 7-10 minutes.

          Add Vegetables and Seasoning: Stir in the mixed vegetables, dried thyme, Worcestershire sauce, and season with salt and pepper. Cook for an additional 5 minutes until the vegetables are heated through.

            Layer the Casserole: In a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, spread the meat and vegetable mixture evenly across the bottom. Top with the mashed potatoes, smoothing them out with a spatula.

              Add Cheese: Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the mashed potatoes.

                Bake: Place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

                  Garnish and Serve: Once baked, remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley before serving.
