Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1 tablespoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 large eggs

1 cup milk

1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

1/4 cup heavy cream

1/4 cup powdered sugar

1 tablespoon vanilla bean paste (or additional vanilla extract)

1/4 cup granulated sugar (for caramelizing)

Chocolate sprinkles (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a heart-shaped donut pan with non-stick spray or oil.

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.

In another bowl, mix the eggs, milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.

Gradually pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, stirring gently until just combined. Do not overmix.

Using a piping bag or a spoon, fill the heart-shaped donut molds about 2/3 full with the batter.

Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let them cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

While the donuts are cooling, prepare the crème brûlée filling: in a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until it starts to simmer. Remove from heat.

In a separate bowl, whisk the powdered sugar and vanilla bean paste until smooth. Gradually stir in the warm cream until fully incorporated. Allow it to cool slightly.

Once donuts are cool, create a small hole in the middle of each donut using a knife or a piping tip to make space for the filling.

Fill each donut hole with the crème brûlée mixture using a piping bag or squeeze bottle.

To achieve the signature brûlée topping, sprinkle a thin, even layer of granulated sugar over each filled donut.

Using a kitchen torch, carefully caramelize the sugar until it bubbles and turns golden brown. If you do not have a kitchen torch, broil the donuts in the oven for a minute or until the sugar caramelizes—watch closely to prevent burning.

Let the caramelized sugar set for a minute to harden.

Optional: Garnish with chocolate sprinkles for an added touch of flair.
