Ingredients

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup granulated sugar

1 cup brown sugar, packed

2 large eggs

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

2 cups all-purpose flour

¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1 teaspoon baking soda

½ teaspoon baking powder

¼ teaspoon salt

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

½ cup chocolate frosting (store-bought or homemade)

Optional: powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.

In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.

Beat in the eggs, one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.

Gently fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips until evenly distributed in the dough.

Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop rounded balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges look set and the tops are slightly cracked. Remove from the oven and allow to cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.

Once the cookies are cool, spread a generous dollop of chocolate frosting on top of each cookie.

If desired, dust with powdered sugar for a beautiful finishing touch.

Prep Time: 15 minutes | Total Time: 30 minutes | Servings: 24 cookies
