Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon instant yeast

1 teaspoon sugar

1/2 teaspoon salt

3/4 cup warm water (about 110°F)

3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

4 cloves garlic, minced

1/4 cup fresh parsley, finely chopped

1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Instructions

In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and instant yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.

Add the flour and salt to the yeast mixture, stirring until a soft dough forms.

Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.

Form the dough into a ball and place it in a greased bowl, covering it with a clean cloth. Let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

While the dough is rising, prepare the garlic butter. In a small bowl, mix together melted butter, minced garlic, parsley, and crushed red pepper flakes if using. Set aside.

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 12 equal portions. Roll each portion into a ball and then place them on a greased baking sheet or in a greased round baking pan.

Brush the tops of the rolls generously with the garlic butter mixture. Sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese, if desired.

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Cover the rolls again with a cloth and let them rest for another 30 minutes.

Once rested, bake the rolls for about 20-25 minutes or until golden brown on top.

Remove from the oven and brush with any remaining garlic butter before serving.
