Ingredients

1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined

2 cups broccoli florets

4 tablespoons unsalted butter

4 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1 teaspoon lemon zest

Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh parsley, chopped for garnish

Instructions

Prepare the Shrimp: Rinse the shrimp under cold water and pat dry with paper towels. Season with salt and pepper and set aside.

Blanch the Broccoli: In a large pot of salted boiling water, blanch the broccoli florets for about 2 minutes until bright green and slightly tender. Drain and immediately transfer to a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking process. After a few minutes, drain and set aside.

Melt the Butter: In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Once melted, add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.

Cook the Shrimp: Add the seasoned shrimp to the skillet. Cook for 2-3 minutes on one side until the shrimp starts to turn pink, then flip them over.

Combine Ingredients: Once the shrimp are almost fully cooked, add the blanched broccoli to the skillet. Sprinkle in the red pepper flakes (if using) and drizzle with lemon juice and zest. Toss everything together and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the shrimp are fully cooked and the broccoli is heated through.

Serve: Remove from heat and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper to taste.

Garnish: Serve hot, garnished with chopped fresh parsley.
