Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon baking powder

1 teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon garlic powder

½ cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

½ cup diced ham (cooked)

1 cup milk

½ cup unsalted butter, melted

1 tablespoon fresh chives, chopped (optional for garnish)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and garlic powder until well combined.

Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese and diced ham, ensuring they are evenly distributed throughout the flour mixture.

In a separate bowl, combine the milk and melted butter. Pour this mixture into the dry ingredients, and stir until just combined. Do not overmix; it’s fine if the batter is a little lumpy.

Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish. The batter will be thick, but it should spread slightly on its own.

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the tops are golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

If desired, sprinkle the chopped chives on top for an added fresh flavor before serving.

Allow to cool slightly before cutting into squares.
