Ingredients

2 cups whole milk

1 cup dark chocolate (70% cacao or higher), finely chopped

2 tablespoons cocoa powder

3 tablespoons granulated sugar (adjust to taste)

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Pinch of sea salt

Whipped cream (for topping)

Chocolate shavings or cocoa powder (for garnish)

Instructions

In a medium saucepan, heat the whole milk over medium-low heat until it starts to steam, but do not let it boil. Stir occasionally to prevent scorching.

Once the milk is heated, whisk in the cocoa powder and sugar until fully dissolved.

Add the finely chopped dark chocolate to the mixture, stirring continuously until the chocolate melts completely and the mixture is smooth and creamy. It should be thick and indulgent.

Stir in the vanilla extract and a pinch of sea salt to enhance the flavors, mixing until well incorporated.

Remove the saucepan from heat and pour the hot chocolate into serving mugs.

Top generously with whipped cream and sprinkle with chocolate shavings or a dusting of cocoa powder for an elegant finish.
