Ingredients

12 mozzarella sticks (string cheese)

1 cup all-purpose flour

2 large eggs

1 tablespoon water

1 cup breadcrumbs (preferably Italian style)

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon dried oregano

Salt and pepper to taste

Oil for frying (canola or vegetable)

Marinara sauce for dipping (optional)

Instructions

Begin by cutting each mozzarella stick in half if you prefer shorter sticks. Set them aside.

Prepare a breading station: Place the flour on one plate, beat the eggs with water in a bowl, and combine breadcrumbs with garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, salt, and pepper on another plate.

Dredge each mozzarella stick in flour and shake off the excess.

Dip the floured stick into the egg mixture, ensuring it is fully coated.

Roll the stick in the seasoned breadcrumbs, pressing lightly to adhere, and place it on a plate. Repeat the process with all mozzarella sticks.

Freeze the coated sticks for at least 30 minutes (this step helps prevent the cheese from melting too quickly while frying).

Heat oil in a deep skillet or a deep fryer over medium-high heat until it reaches around 350°F (175°C).

Fry the mozzarella sticks in batches for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Avoid overcrowding the pan to ensure even cooking.

Remove the sticks with a slotted spoon and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.

Serve warm with marinara sauce on the side for dipping.
