Ingredients

1 cup creamy peanut butter

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1/2 cup packed brown sugar

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 large egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 cup chocolate kisses, unwrapped

Coarse sea salt for sprinkling (optional)

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened butter, creamy peanut butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar. Beat them together using a hand mixer or whisk until the mixture is smooth and creamy.

Add the egg and vanilla extract to the mixture, continuing to beat until well combined.

In another bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.

Spread the batter evenly into the prepared baking dish, smoothing the top with a spatula.

Bake in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out mostly clean.

Remove from the oven and immediately press the chocolate kisses into the top of the bars in even rows.

If desired, sprinkle a little coarse sea salt over the top for an added flavor kick.

Allow the bars to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Once cooled, cut into squares and serve.
