Ingredients

1 cup fresh basil leaves

1/4 cup pine nuts

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

2 cloves garlic, minced

1/2 cup olive oil

1 cup heavy cream

Salt and pepper to taste

1 tablespoon lemon juice

Optional: 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes for a bit of heat

Instructions

Make the Pesto: In a food processor, combine the basil leaves, pine nuts, grated Parmesan, and minced garlic. Pulse until finely chopped.

Add Olive Oil: While the processor is running, slowly drizzle in the olive oil until smooth, scraping down the sides as necessary. Adjust consistency with more oil if needed. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Cook the Sauce: In a medium saucepan over low heat, add the prepared pesto. Slowly pour in the heavy cream while stirring to combine. Allow the sauce to heat gently; do not let it boil.

Finish the Sauce: Once warmed through, stir in the lemon juice and optional red pepper flakes for an added kick. Taste and adjust seasoning.

Serve: Toss the creamy basil-pesto sauce with freshly cooked ravioli and serve immediately.
