1 ½ cups all-purpose flour

1 cup granulated sugar

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1/2 cup vegetable oil

1 cup buttermilk, room temperature

2 large eggs

2 tablespoons red food coloring

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon white vinegar

1/2 cup cream cheese, softened

1/4 cup powdered sugar

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (for cream cheese filling)

Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a standard cupcake pan with paper liners.

    Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, sift together the flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and cocoa powder until well combined.

      Mix Wet Ingredients: In another bowl, whisk together the vegetable oil, buttermilk, eggs, red food coloring, vanilla extract, and vinegar until smooth.

        Combine Mixtures: Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined. Do not overmix; a few lumps are fine.

          Prepare Cream Cheese Filling: In a separate bowl, beat the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and the extra vanilla extract until smooth and fluffy.

            Fill Cupcake Liners: Using a cookie scoop, fill each cupcake liner about one-third full with the red velvet batter. Drop a teaspoon of the cream cheese mixture in the center, and then cover with more red velvet batter until the liner is about two-thirds full.

              Swirl the Batter: Use a skewer or toothpick to gently swirl the batter and cream cheese filling together for a marbled effect.

                Bake: Place in the preheated oven and bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

                  Cool: Remove cupcakes from the pan and let them cool in the pan for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
