Ingredients

4 ripe peaches, sliced

4 cups water

4 black tea bags (or 4 tablespoons loose leaf black tea)

1/2 cup sugar (adjust to taste)

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1 sprig of fresh mint (for garnish)

Ice cubes

Instructions

In a medium saucepan, bring 2 cups of water to a boil. Once boiling, remove from heat and add the black tea bags. Let steep for 5-7 minutes, then remove the tea bags and stir in the sugar until fully dissolved. Set aside to cool.

In another saucepan, combine the sliced peaches, remaining 2 cups of water, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, cooking for about 10-15 minutes until the peaches soften and release their juices.

Strain the peach mixture through a fine sieve into a large bowl or pitcher, pressing down on the peaches to extract as much juice as possible. Discard the solids.

Combine the peach juice with the brewed tea in the pitcher. Stir well and adjust sweetness if desired.

Chill in the refrigerator until ready to serve.

To serve, fill glasses with ice cubes and pour the Southern Spiced Peach Tea over the ice. Garnish with a sprig of fresh mint.
