Ingredients

1 pound ground beef (80/20 blend for juiciness)

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

4 slices American cheese

4 burger buns (preferably brioche)

1 cup crispy fried onions

1/2 cup secret crack sauce (recipe below)

Lettuce and tomato slices for garnish

Secret Crack Sauce Ingredients:

1/2 cup mayonnaise

1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

1 tablespoon ketchup

1 tablespoon pickle relish

1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika

Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

Make the Crack Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, ketchup, pickle relish, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper until smooth. Set aside.

Prepare the Patties: In a large bowl, combine ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Gently mix until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

Shape the Burgers: Divide the meat mixture into 4 equal portions and shape them into patties about ¾ inch thick. Make a slight indent in the center of each patty with your thumb for even cooking.

Cook the Burgers: Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for 3-4 minutes on one side. Flip the patties and place a slice of cheese on each burger. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes or until desired doneness is reached (160°F for medium).

Toast the Buns: While the burgers are cooking, lightly toast the burger buns on the grill or in a pan until golden brown.

Assemble the Burgers: Spread a generous amount of crack sauce on the bottom half of each bun. Place the burger patty on top, add crispy fried onions, and top with lettuce and tomato slices. Finish with the top bun.

Serve: Serve your crack burgers immediately with extra crack sauce on the side for dipping.
