Ingredients

1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend for flavor)

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 medium onion, diced

2 cloves garlic, minced

2 tablespoons tomato paste

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 tablespoon ketchup

1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

1 teaspoon chili powder

Salt and pepper to taste

4 crusty sandwich rolls (ciabatta or hoagie style)

4 slices provolone cheese

Fresh basil leaves (for garnish)

Instructions

Heat Oil: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat.

Sauté Onions and Garlic: Add the diced onion and cook until translucent, about 5 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and sauté for another minute until fragrant.

Cook Beef: Increase the heat to medium-high and add the ground beef to the skillet. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon, about 6-8 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.

Add Flavorings: Stir in the tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, Dijon mustard, smoked paprika, chili powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well and let it simmer for about 5 minutes to meld the flavors.

Prepare Rolls: While the beef mixture is simmering, slice the sandwich rolls in half and toast them lightly until golden brown.

Assemble the Sandwich: Spoon the beef mixture generously onto the bottom half of each roll. Place a slice of provolone cheese on top of the beef.

Melt Cheese: If desired, place the assembled sandwiches under a broiler for about 1-2 minutes until the cheese melts and is bubbly, watching carefully to prevent burning.

Garnish & Serve: Top with fresh basil leaves, place the top half of the roll over the sandwich, and serve immediately.

                  Prep Time: 15 mins | Total Time: 35 mins | Servings: 4

                    - Presentation Tips: Cut each sandwich in half and display on a large platter. Garnish with additional basil and serve with potato chips or a simple side salad for a complete meal.
